DIMO, one of the leading conglomerates in Sri Lanka, has attained another feather in its cap with Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) recognizing the Diploma in Plant Engineering for Sanitary Heating and Air Conditioning (PESHA) offered by DIMO Academy for Technical Skills (DATS) as “German Dual Vocational Training Abroad” (Category A qualification).

The IHK Nuremberg is part of the network of 79 chambers of commerce and industry in Germany. Chambers of commerce have the objective of promoting business and supporting industry, as well as ensuring quality standards and certifying German dual vocational training. AHK Sri Lanka, as the representative body of the German IHK network in Sri Lanka, is responsible for the quality assurance, examination procedure and certification of the PESHA training. The IHK recognition and AHK Sri Lanka certification ensures that course duration, content and examinations are aligned with German standards. With this latest recognition, the PESHA certification is now accepted alongside similar building management qualifications offered in Germany and will open more opportunities in the building management sector for PESHA students in the future.

Mr. Ranjith Pandithage, Chairman & Managing Director of DIMO said, “DIMO has always stood for fuelling dreams and aspirations of the youth in the country. Vocational education is one of the main attributes in DIMO’s sustainability agenda. We firmly believe that the country needs to focus on improving the quality of its vocational education in order to accelerate the economic development and as a responsible corporate citizen, DIMO has taken measures to improve the quality of vocational education in the country. This recognition reaffirms DIMO’s commitment to developing the country’s vocational education spectrum.”

PESHA covers the full gamut of modern building aspects from electrical, plumbing, fire protection, access control to heating, air conditioning, integrated building management systems and solar power. A German Language program is also offered through this certification to support local students who seek employment in Germany. The Building Management systems sector is rapidly expanding and creating employment opportunities across the globe while also increasing the demand for qualifications such as PESHA.

“AHK Sri Lanka is glad to continue supporting and certifying high quality, practice-oriented, and industry driven vocational training in Sri Lanka together with DIMO”, said Mr. Josef Tschoep, Head of Vocational Training at AHK Sri Lanka.

The PESHA course content includes a wide range of modules such as machine processing, maintenance of equipment, maintenance of technical facilities & systems and many more.

DATS is the only institute in Sri Lanka that offers this 3-and-a-half-year course and DIMO’s vast expertise in overseeing global giants in the engineering sphere, is a testament to the fact that DATS is the only institute in the country capable of providing a world class vocational qualification in Modern Building Services such as PESHA. This recognition by  IHK Germany and AHK Sri Lanka also reflects that PESHA qualification is aligned with international standards, further enhancing its global recognition.
