HUTCH, the country’s growing choice for broadband data communication services is continuing its efforts to support communities during this economically challenging time. Amongst several community support initiatives that Hutch has been conducting, Hutch is also supporting devotees at the Nallur Festival in Jaffna with Annadanam – meal offering.
The Nallur Festival is the largest Hindu temple festival in the northern region of Jaffna. and Annadanams feature as a sacred tradition of offering food to those attending the festival.
With inflation, particularly food inflation rising to over 80%, people around the country are finding it increasingly difficult to have nutritious meals. HUTCH has therefore, as part of its community and social support efforts, taken the initiative to alleviate some of the burden by providing meal assistance. More than 10,000 people will be served at the Hutch Annadanam during a period of 20-days from 5th of August to 25th of August at the Nallur Mylooran Arangam.
Commenting on the initiative, CEO of Hutch Sri Lanka Mr. Thirukumar Nadarasa commented “Instead of conducting normal commercial operations this Nallur festival, Hutch decided instead to allocate these funds to providing the people in the Northern region with a fair meal.”
